皇學館大学 第20回英語スピーチコンテストで本校から3名が受賞しました

Three Saint Joseph students were awarded prizes at Kogakkan University’s 20th High School Student English Recitation Contest on Sunday 20 October, 2019. 4th grader Miyuki Kurata received a Special Mention for her recitation about Martin Luther King and the Black Civil Rights movement in the 1950s, while 5th grader Saaya Unno was awarded 3rd prize for her recitation about Mother Teresa. Meanwhile, 4th grader Mikuna Hirao got 2nd place with an adaptation of a speech given by Setsuko Thurlow, a survivor of the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima in 1945, on behalf of ICAN (International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons), the recipient of the 2017 Nobel Peace Prize.

10月20日（日）に行われた、皇学館大学第20回高校生英語スピーチコンテストで、セントヨゼフの生徒3名が入賞しました。4年生の倉田美雪さんが特別賞、5年生の海野沙彩さんが第3位、4年生の平尾みく菜さんが第2位でした。倉田さんは、マーティン・ルーサー・キングと1950年代のアフリカ系アメリカ人公民権運動について、海野さんはマザーテレサに関する英文を暗唱しました。平尾さんは、広島出身の被爆者で、2017年のノーベル平和賞受賞者であるサーロー節子さんが、ICAN（核兵器廃絶国際キャンペーン）の代表として行った演説を改作して発表しました。
