2025年5月31日から6月7日までの期間、本校は、ミズーリ州にある姉妹校2校からの5名を含む6名の高校生を温かくお迎えできたことを大変嬉しく思います。来校した生徒たちは、セントルイスのSt. Joseph’s Academy、カンザスシティのSt. Teresa’s Academyの出身で、St. Joseph’s Academyからの2名の教員が引率しました。
5月31日に津に到着したグループを歓迎するため、学校での交流会とミサが行われました。その後、生徒たちはホストファミリーとともに1日を過ごし、6月2日に再び登校しました。
以降の数日間では、書道、空手、日本料理のレッスンなど、さまざまな活動が行われました。アメリカの生徒たちは浴衣を着る体験や茶道にも参加し、日本文化への理解を深めました。
また、国際交流室に掲示する壁面装飾を作成し、自分たちの学校や出身地について本校の多くの生徒の前でプレゼンテーションも行ってくれました。
天候には恵まれなかったものの、本校のグローバル・コミュニケーション・ユニオンのメンバーとともに伊勢への遠足を楽しみ、ダグラス先生のゼミのメンバーたちの案内で石水博物館も見学しました。
滞在中の一日は、本校の体育祭「ヨゼフィンピック」と重なり、アメリカの生徒たちも積極的に参加して、多くの新しい友情を築き、思い出に残る素晴らしい体験となりました。
心温まるおもてなしをしてくださったすべてのホストファミリーの皆様に心より感謝申し上げます。そして、今後またアメリカ各地にある姉妹校の友人たちとより絆を深める日を楽しみにしています。
We were very delighted to be able to extend a warm welcome to six high school students, including five from our two sister schools in Missouri, to our school from May 31 to June 7, 2025. The students, from St. Joseph’s Academy in St. Louis and St. Teresa’s Academy in Kansas City, were accompanied by two faculty members from St. Joseph’s Academy. A welcome party and mass at school followed the group’s arrival in Tsu on May 31, and the students then spent a day with their host families before returning to school on June 2. A full program of activities took place over the following few days, including calligraphy, karate and Japanese cooking lessons. The American students had the opportunity to deepen their understanding of traditional Japanese culture by learning how to put on a yukata and experiencing the tea ceremony. In return they made a wall display for the International Exchange Room and gave a presentation about themselves, their schools and hometowns in front of many of our students. They also enjoyed an excursion to Ise with members of our Global Communication Union, despite poor weather, and were also guided around the Sekisui Museum by students in Mr. Douglas’s seminar. The final full day of the visit coincided with our school’s sports festival, the ‘Josephimpics’, in which the American students participated fully and had a wonderful opportunity to make even more friendships and lasting memories. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the host families for their generous hospitality. We also look forward to the next opportunity to make new acquaintances with dear friends at all our sister schools across the USA.
